Fire Assay Furnace

A Fire Assay Furnace is a high-temperature oven used in the process of fire assaying, which is a standard method for determining the precious metal content (typically gold, silver, and platinum group metals) in ores, concentrates, or refined metals. This method is one of the most accurate and widely accepted techniques for precious metal analysis. The furnace is made with high-quality materials, has good insulation to reduce heat loss, a cooling feature, and a rust-resistant outer body.

Material of construction: The interior and exterior of the equipment be made up of high quality material. The furnace should be thermally linked with thick, graded ceramic fiber blanket or superior to minimize the heat loss. The furnace has suitable mechanism that allows the furnace to be retracted from the quartz tubes to allow cooling. The exterior surface has zinc coated mild steel finish with paint to avoid corrosion. Heating is provided by at least two slabs resistance element to maintain uniformity of furnace temperature. The heating element is made up of KanthalA-1 or superior and the inner tubes to be made up of quartz or superior material. The energy regulator of the furnace is capable of allowing temperature rise at the rate of 5 °C per minute.
  • The furnace uses at least two heaters for even heating. The heaters are made of Kanthal A-1 or better, and the inner tubes are made of quartz or better. The temperature can rise at 5 °C per minute.
Thermocouple: The thermocouple is to be fitted into a refractory or stainless steel sheath passing through rear end of the furnace and is to be connected with the equipment for measuring the EMF or equivalent temperature difference. Temperature calibration certificate for furnace and thermocouple to be provided at the time of Installation and Commissioning of the equipment.
  • Gas Holder: The gas holder is to be connected through the stopcock by rubber to a suspended glass reservoir using a pulley as per IS 1353 standard. We will provide the scrubber is a glass tube with a valve at the bottom and an inlet. It holds dilute sulfuric acid to soak up ammonia gas. Also provide the top has a rubber stopper with a bent glass outlet that connects to the gas holder.
  • Over temperature protection: Over temperature protection with automatic cut off switch controller to be provided in the equipment.
